Martin Luther King, Jr.
by Wilfredo

Martin Luther King Jr. was a black person who was fighting for freedom. He was born on January 15, 1929. He had the same name as his father except his father was Martin Luther King Sr. Martin Luther King Sr. was a minister. Martin Luther King Jr. thought his dad’s speeches were great. He wanted to be just like his father and became a minister too. Martin Luther King Jr. as a minister, was trying to make a difference by helping black people get treated fairly and like white people. White people could do basically whatever they wanted to do. Black people, however, went to different schools and water fountains. One day in 1962, Martin Luther King Jr.’s home was bombed by a group of white people. His home was broken and smashed, so he could not live in it. He had no home. In the year of 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was shot during a speech. It was his last speech ever in history.

Aww! This is so cute! I love Martin King, I am Swedish, so we do not learn much about the African-American civil rights movement here, but I wanted to learn more about it and I started reading about it a lot on the internet. I am eighteen years old and I live in Stockholm. I guess I found this website some time when I was googling for pictures of Martin Luther King and then I remember I saw this really nice drawing here. I hope nobody gets offended if I use it in my blog, I kind of have a habit of using other people's pictures.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s house was bombed, but not destroyed. He was shot after a speech, not during it. And he practically single-handedly made our country what it is today. You forgot that part. :].

I'm African and for a long time manyAfrican countries have struggles to get rid of the colonial seggregation rules. We learnt in school about Martin Luther king and other activists who have worked to establish equality of races and have always ben inspired by him. We should never forget that we are great and we have had great leaders. Long live Martin Luther King Jr's memory...Christine

This is wonderful, great site. Just so you know, he was actually shot the day AFTER his last speech. He was standing in front of his hotel room, about to go to dinner, and a man with a rifle shot him from far away. Good work!
