Bethany Hamilton

by Mairead

Bethany was a believer. How would you stay calm if a shark attacked you? But she did stay clam. She believed in God and did not care if he killed her. Pretend you are surfing on a Halloween morning in Hawaii and a tiger shark attacks you. Then you found out that you might not be able to do the sport you love. Sad? Angry? For her it was both. And that’s what happened to Bethany. She believed that if she worked hard she might surf again. She was right. Bethany was inspiring in that way.

You can read more about 13 year old Bethany Hamilton in Soul Surfer. You might find out that she had two brothers and liked chocolate. And you’ll probably learn more cool stuff.
